Volunteers make UTC a wonderful community and help us to fulfill our mission! There are many ways you can get involved. These opportunities include working directly with students and staff, doing garden/homestead maintenance when it fits your schedule, joining community work days alone or with a group, or lending a hand with fundraisers and community events. Under the canopy accepts applications on an ongoing basis for the position of part time nature teacher/mentors. Teachers facilitate outdoor classes for pre-school – 5th graders across Tulsa. Our team
members are reliable, resilient, playful, creative and, above all, patient. They work well in a team
teaching setting as well as independently. They are comfortable working outdoors every day, in
all kinds of weather, and have a deep respect for children’s autonomy and individuality.

Bring Under the Canopy to your school or organization
Under the Canopy Nature Classes & Workshops
Under the Canopy teaches workshops and classes for Children of all ages. These can occur once or as a seasonal series. Under The Canopy has worked with The Eisenhower International School, Undercroft Montessori, Mayo Demonstration, Council Oak and B'nai Emunah Preschool. Learn how to open your senses, identify native plants and track wildlife while examining the changing of the seasons up close. Our seasonal workshops highlight the many things to look for and do outside all year long. Connect with your community through foraging, nature awareness and unraveling the ever changing puzzle of the natural world. Adult Nature Workshops
Nature Connection is not just for children! Under the Canopy also teaches nature awareness workshops for adults! Under The Canopy has worked with The Gilcrease Museum, Groggs Green Barn, Tulsa Botanic Garden and Hope Unitarian Church to offer workshops that include nature awareness exercises, nature journaling, edible, medicinal and wild plant I.D.
