Tiny worlds are all around us just waiting to be explored! Inspired by the novels of Mary Norton and current films about “The Borrowers,” we will explore the world of the little people through the eyes of the naturalist. In the mornings, we will trek through the forest searching for “Borrower” signs and other animal creatures that live in the woods while simultaneously learning about the local flora and fauna. We will build borrower sized nature shelters and press wild plants along the way. In the afternoon, we will hear stories from many cultures about the borrowers that live around us then come up with our own comic books about the little people we think may live on Hope Hill. The camp will end with a celebration honoring the little people by sharing our comics and having a Borrower forest party. Children will come away with local naturalist knowledge of plants and animals, new art skills and nature awareness skills that will inspire them to keep exploring the woods for a lifetime.
Activities Include:
Wild plant I.D. and basic tracking skills
